There is a new national programme starting on 1st April 2011 called Sportivate. It is part of the Play strand in Sport England’s ‘Places, People, Play’ mass participation plans and is a 4 year programme funded by the National Lottery. It will be delivered by LIVING SPORT in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough and may be beneficial to the clubs in your area. The Sportivate programme within Cambridgeshire & Peterborough has a delivery budget of around £90,000 a year.
The idea is to get more 14 -25 year olds participating in sport. Projects will run weekly for 6 weeks and sessions should last an hour. There must also be a suitable exit route for the participants once the 6 weeks coaching is complete, for example, a local sports club. I have attached some information below about Sportivate which I would be grateful if you could put on your website.
For more information please visit the LIVING SPORT website. If you have any queries please don’t hesitate to contact either myself or Ross Hayward.
Kind Regards,
Charlotte
The Sportivate programme is part of the Play strand in Sport England’s ‘Places, People, Play’ plans. It is a four year programme and will run from 1st April 2011 – 31st March 2015. The overall aim of the programme is to get 300,000 ‘semi sporty’ participants aged 14-25 years to complete weekly coaching sessions over the 4 years, with two in five (120,000) to carry on playing sport regularly. LIVING SPORT will be accountable for the delivery of the programme for Cambridgeshire & Peterborough.
