Robert Dadds and Nayera El Refee doubled up at this week Mid East Area Championships adding to their u17 County Titles won at last weeks Cambridgeshire Championships.
With Academy Director Mike Harris away on International duty Academy Coaches James Powley and Bob Maison were fortunate to be joined by Area Organiser Andy Hastings and National Performance Director Peter Hirst to run the rule over the Area’s Junior talent.
Following an exciting Under 15 final which saw Declan Osbourne secure a hard fought 4 set win over Joe Bolt, the crowd gathered at the Hunts County were disappointed when the high quality u17 final between Dadds and Peter Dickinson had to be halted.
Dickinson was experiencing breathing difficulties having suffered a broken nose in a School Rugby match the previous week and despite having shaded a close first game the relentless pressure applied by Dadds eventually took its toll and Dickinson had to concede
In the girls event Nayera El Refee also doubled her tournament titles beating Ellie Fenner for the second consecutive weeks.
In the younger categories it’s just possible we’ve seen a new talent emerge from the Nofolk area as 12 year old Sian Eves emerged as winner – having regular sessions with Craig Aldred at Barham Broom and some adhoc sessions Norfolk’s squash legend Cassie Jackman young Sian is showing enough early promise to be a real prospect
